LAURA VOLPI GIOIELLI. Milan
My work is a synthesis of energy, research and matter that takes shape through the elaboration of visual stimuli from our contemporaneity, to create jewels that reveal each a different part of my creative storytelling. I conduct an accurate study of volume and a research of the sculptural shape, to create a jewel that explores the sensation of movement in a wearable dimension.

SHORT CV

Laura Volpi, goldsmith sculptor, was born in Milan in 1969. After graduating in scenography from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, she continued her artistic training by studying at the Slade School of Fine Art in London.

Back in Italy, she decided to devote herself to sculptural jewellery, allowing herself to experiment with sculpture even in its non-wearable dimension. She thus attended specialisation courses first with Davide De Paoli, in his studio in Milan, and then at the Centro Tam (Trattamento Artistico dei Metalli – “Artistic Treatment of Metals”) with ArnaldoPomodoro, with whom she later collaborated, working in his Milanese studio, which has now become the home of the homonymous foundation.

She opens her first workshop in 1993, experimenting with materials and techniques that allow her to develop new concepts of “sculptural jewel”.
